Dr. Weidner is a board certified fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty focus in hip and knee joint replacements. He has a particular interest in minimally invasive and muscle sparing joint replacement surgery. One of his focuses is using the direct anterior approach for hip replacement. This procedure allows for a quicker recovery with less pain and lower risk of dislocation compared to more traditional methods of hip replacement. It also allows for x-ray confirmation of implant positioning prior to leaving the operating room. He also specializes in robotic-assisted partial and total knee replacements (MAKOplasty®) which can allow for more precise component implantation and early return to function. Mako total knee replacement surgery is a new breakthrough technology only recently available that has a chance to significantly improve outcomes and lessen pain for patients undergoing knee replacement surgery.
